“Fitlosophy” (Philosophy regarding fitness, wellness, health, etc):

I have always loved sports playing watching and supporting so I felt it was a natural transition to work with athletic training staff for soccer, basketball) teams at Gannon University.  I was perfect fit because I also played on the team. I continued to Lynn University to physical therapy assistant school as well as massage therapy school.  Working in a physical therapy clinic was so rewarding but I felt drawn to my own work with individuals that finish PT and want to return to the gym or a sport.  I feel that the past 30 years of exercise and massage experience I can bring into every massage.

I specialize in deep tissue, sports, and rehabilitative massage but I have experience doing broad relaxation work as well. With every client and every massage, I craft a custom experience tailored to their specific needs during that session. I believe massage is best used as a tool to bring awareness to one’s body and is a gateway to all other aspects of health and wellness.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. The strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with only the area being worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibration, percussion, and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue bodywork is applied with the intention of accessing the deeper layers of the body. Pressure is applied with the purpose of finding the resistance of the body and sustaining the pressure until the resistance is released. Deep tissue massage helps with chronic pain and injury rehabilitation.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. There are three contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment. Pre-event massage is delivered at the performance site, usually with the athlete fully clothed. This type of massage helps to establish blood flow and to warm up muscles. Post-event massage serves to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training sooner than rest alone would allow.
